INNOVATORS
Everyone knows about the prime-time reality TV show the Shark Tank, where emerging entrepreneurs get the chance to bring their entrepreneurial dreams to reality. Nervously they stand in front of five business leaders who made their fortune by being innovative, creative, cunning, and sharp. Contestants try to convince any one of the sharks to invest money in their business idea.
Now imagine doctors and researchers pitching their life saving, life-altering research and clinical programs to improve the health of children. This is happening right here in Manitoba. Welcome to the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba Innovators Program, an exclusive program that engages the next generation of community leaders who want to play a role in helping fund the highest priority needs at the Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba.

Started three years ago under the direction of Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba Board Member, Carmyn Aleshka, Innovators are invited to four inspiring events per year, meet several of our leading doctors and researchers, get behind-the-scenes, and learn about possible innovative ideas that can help change the landscape of child health in Manitoba and potentially around the world. At the end of the year, they meet and vote for the idea they would like to support and fund it themselves collectively.

Innovation happens when people see problems and unmet needs and challenge the status quo and putting skin in the game to solve them. Does this sound like you?

If so, I want to hear from you! I can be reached at sgrande@hsc.mb.ca, or 204-787-4061.

PS: Since the inception of the program, Innovators have donated $65,000 to support Acute Kidney Injury and research to finding the key to treat Blue Babies.
