Aly Raposo received her Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Manitoba in 2018.  She is currently working on her Master’s at same.  Over the past few years, Aly has worked tirelessly to advocate for mental health and human rights.  She has been an invited key note speaker, facilitator and a researcher in these fields throughout the country. 

 

Aly is an award winning speaker and her initiatives have earned her some tremendous awards in the past few years including:  The University of Manitoba Emerging Leader Award in 2018, CBC Manitoba Future 40 finalist in 2017, YMCA-YWCA Young Woman of Distinction Award in 2017 and the Achievement Award Art’s Celebrating Art’s at the University of Manitoba in 2017.  Aly was also listed as one of the 8 Influential Millennial's in Winnipeg to Watch in 2017. 

 

Aly sits on numerous panels to provide knowledge to health care workers, youth, families and caregivers on mental health and addictions.  She is part of the Speakers Bureau for United Way Winnipeg and is a current research team member for a research study via the University of Manitoba combined with the University of Kentucky - College of Nursing, Australia Behavioral Sciences,  Netherlands and Health Sciences in UK – titled IN-GAUGE:  A Project using Social Innovation to build inclusive societies for youth living with mental illness.  

 

She is a newly appointed board member for the Alpha House Project where she advocates to end gender based violence.  She was also appointed to the first Human Rights Committee of Council for the City of Winnipeg.  She now is the Chair of both the Citizen Equity Committee of Council as well as the Accessibility and Inclusion Sub Committee of Council for the City of Winnipeg.
